28 Reasons Business is Booming #24-26- Website, Facebook and YouTube
The next three topics are all under the subject of online media, so I’ll tackle them at once.
The first topic for this article, or number 24 in the 28 Reasons Business is Booming, is Website.
How strong is your company’s online presence?
If you don’t have a website today, you may not know it, but your business is already dead. If you aren’t sure how to start a website or run it once you get started, here are four keys for success.
First, hire a pimply faced kid who drinks nothing but RedBull and is practically attached to the computer.
Why?
What do those kids do all day? They sit online. Do they go out to nightclubs? Only virtual nightclubs online and they’ve been living that way forever.
Hire a kid, tell them what you want your site to be and let them work their magic. They know more about websites than you do and you can probably hire them cheap.
The second key is to have more than one website.
At ActionCOACH I have over 1000 registered domain names. Of the 13 billion dotcom addresses on the internet, my sites are listed in the top 70,000 for traffic.
Do you think we’re doing something right?
Next, remember content is king. On ActionCOACH.com alone, I have about 18000 pages of unique content. I have articles on everything, from marketing to team building to anything else you can think of that pertains to business and coaching.
I also have a pressroom that produces press releases and other news items about my company.
You have to remember that the world has changed. Reporters find stories by googling and searching the internet rather than pounding the pavement.
You need your own working pressroom because it allows you to send out news about your company that is ready to be picked up by other entities while you control the content.
How do I generate all of this content?
I employ full-time content writers whose job is to turn out articles, blogs, webpages and press releases every day.
The fourth and final step to building a great web presence is to have a blog.
You need to write an article about your industry every day. Fresh content builds brand recognition and databases and they are great for search engine algorithms and creating search engine optimization for your business.
The next topic and the 25th Reason Business is Booming is Facebook.
I love Facebook. I think it’s one of the greatest innovations for marketing and relationship building ever created.
Facebook could be considered one of the largest countries in the world, as it passed 500,000,000 users earlier in the summer.
In this day and age, most people have heard the term social media. This term is a misnomer that turns some business owners off.
The right term to use for what is commonly called social media is interactive database.
What makes Facebook so powerful is that it’s an interactive database with about a half a billion users. Do you think a database that size could be useful for your business?
Facebook takes the old database you’ve been working with and puts it in a place where you can interact with customers and prospects all day every day.
Twitter is another great interactive database, but it is great for making contacts, while Facebook is better for building relationships. Basically Twitter is like a five second radio ad while Facebook is akin to a 30 second television spot.
LinkedIn is another great interactive database, but it is strictly a site for people looking to promote their professional services.
If you aren’t sure how to create a Facebook page, go to http://www.facebook.com/#!/BradleySugars?ref=ts and just follow what I do.
You’ll learn how I interact with people and bring money into my business through Facebook. Then refer my page to four of your friends.
Finally, the 26th reason business is booming is YouTube.
If you don’t have a video of your best products, salespeople and customers, what are you waiting for?
Do you have videos of happy customers extolling your company’s virtues? Why not?
Do you really think you are a better salesperson than your best customers? There is no stronger sales force for your business than customers who are raving fans.
Working with YouTube is very easy. You simply link your site to any videos you put on YouTube with a link button. There are even videos on YouTube, teaching how to use YouTube and social media in general.
You can check out some of my videos here http://www.actioncoach.com/business-coaches-youtube.php
If you follow these tips, you can use the internet, interactive databases and online videos to build a booming business.

You’re so spot-on with these.
Getting these marketing activities in place for your business isn’t hard. In fact, if you run a small business in British Columbia, odds are good you can get government funding to help your staff learn to get it all in place. Contact me for details.
I look forward to seeing you in Vancouver in September, Brad.
