VLOG V’s BLOG … Your Vote needed …

OK, so the debate rages on amongst my team, I want your vote ...

Would a 3 minute video each day, every few days, once a week or never be the best moving forward ...

You see sometimes instead of typing an article for my BLOG I think a video recorded right here on my laptop would be not only easier but better?  We need your thoughts as the readers/watchers of my BLOG, which would you prefer, Brad Sugars on Business Video and how often?

Thanks

Brad

PS.  When we know the results, I'd also like any topics you want to learn more about either by video or by written word.

Even better, a three minute video AND the audio available as a podcast. Per day would be great, although I’m sure that would consume a lot of time to create. Per week would be OK, but my vote is on daily.

  2. Bob Roberts says:

Brad, I’m a fan of podcasts as I can listen to them during morning exercise, while in the car or while focused on my “learning time.” A video will take my eyes off the road!

  3. Shirley says:

For me personally, daily posts are overkill. I’d definitely watch a short video once a week.

Thanks for all the learnings so far!

  4. Hayley Erner says:

    Hi Brad

Typed articles are great for pasting into emails as CNEs for clients.. and the benefit of an article is that when the first sentence or two grabs a reader they read on…

I believe videos are the way forward… and they’re more personal as they have tone etc. which can be lost in an article..

Maybe transition it with a mix of both?????… Perhaps one each per week..

    Hayley :-)

  5. Brian Kuebler says:

Brad, I would like a video at least once a week. I can download to my i-pod and listen while exercising or driving. A video would offer me more opportunities to increase my learning time. Thanks for asking! – Brian

  6. Michael Jetter says:

While I like video, audio is more practical and can be absorbed at many different times. Once a week is great as a supplement to all the other great learning tools we have.

  7. Santiago Torre says:

Brad, I suscribe Tim’s opinion. For me a three minute video or audio once per day would be great …

  8. kenmolvik says:

One 3 minute video a week would be great. AC is not short on learning resources so one can get caught “learning” too much and “doing” too little. Kinda like drinking from a fire hose.

  9. Philippe Karm says:

For me every day is too much. Enough to assimilate anyway with everything we’ve got.
I vote for once a week to stay on tracks and keep ears open.
I prefer Audio as I can listen to it everywhere.
Written transcripion definitly help, specially for those who, like me, are not fluent in english.

  10. Jim Munro says:

A weekly video would be great; daily would probably start to accumulate. Thanks for the insights and opportunity to respond.

  11. Bill Stack Arizona ActionCOACH says:

I think a Video blog/Video Podcast (one that gets the audio portion dumped to an audio podcast) is the best bet for the time you invest in all of these messages Brad.
It ties in with that “do it once, have it seen forever” concept. Many great business podcasts find their way to the top of AppleTV’s top podcast list.(see “Help My Business Sucks” video podcast to see what I mean) That list is seen by a great audience of business owners who, by the very fact that they are watching such video podcasts (audio is there as well), are most probably “coachable”. I say such a video podcast delivery system is an excellent method for your messages to get out there, in people’s homes, instead of/as well as their office desks, which are clusters as we all know. Let people see the material when they are in a less frazzled mental state, such as when they are watching their AppleTV, Right target, right method, right mindset.

  12. Linda Bigler says:

I like the mix, a vlog once or twice a week and blog a few times a week. I like the ability to fwd also. I work out every morning and use the IPOD for my learning then and while driving. I recieve to many newsletters and tips etc. too often and they stack up and go w/o being read at all. Keeping them short and to the point has a better chance of being heard and read.

  13. Ken Sevick says:

Once a week with video would be good, but I would go for audio over video on a more consistent basis. A podcast would allow me to listen in the car.

  14. Ed Gideon says:

    ditto Linda Bigler’s comments

  15. alejandro macias says:

A 3 minute video daily will be really very good. Weekly will be very good too

  16. Bernadeen McLeod says:

I would like to see video on a weekly basis.

Topics that support different marketing strategies would be ideal. How to manage people – teaching the why behind action to increase the execution results.

Examples of different auto responder campaigns that have worked as examples of best practises. (this is my favorite – I would love to help out on test & measure efforts). I am ready to go and trying out a couple of diff ones now. I have more lists than you can imagine that I can use – it’s selecting the right strategies for my target audiences that are “strategic” in nature and value material here would be significant.

Examples of how social media tools have impacted results – increased results and not just followers.

  17. Carlos Trevino says:

I vote for a once a week video.

  18. Julian Weekes says:

I like the idea of a regular short video, immediate communication supporting the other Action tools and resources. Every day or once per week, not sure – How about some test and measure.

An MP3 version would be useful for those always on the move, takes far less room on the ipod.

  19. Jose Luis Lopez says:

Brad, I vote for once a week podcast, audio will be most practical. Thanks for opportunity to vote.

  20. Anthony McNab says:

    Hi Brad,

I believe a combo would be great – written, audio and video. Make the multimedia available to the iPod. For audio and video make it weekly.

  21. Jeremy Fairbanks says:

I am a huge fan of the daily blog. Many things have felt overwhelming to me but not the blogs. They are short, precise and too the point. It has been absolutely valuable information. I am in favor of the current format daily. However, maybe a combination of Vlog and blog’s would be beneficial? If we can only choose one option I am in favor of keeping it as is.

  22. Chris Baker says:

A little bit every day gets my vote- and I prefer video to audio.

  23. Nathan McDonald says:

Video at least weekly and blog every few days.

  24. Jacob McGinnis says:

I agree with an Audio Podcast. They download straight to the iPhone and give me another learning resource.

  25. joshslavitt says:

I like the idea of video and a separate audio file that we could download and play on our I-Pods when driving. I frequently listen to your CDs when I’m in my car and I find that it’s an excellent way to keep abreast of your thoughts.

  26. Carlos Zubillaga says:

I vote for a video also made available in audio and an article per week. They fulfill different purposes.

  27. Grant Mellow says:

Weekly audio is good. I like the notes you have been writing because they are really quick to read and stimulate thought. They act as reminders to the more detailed learning we already get. I appreciate the regular sharpening up that they provide.

  28. Michael Cowley says:

My vote – short video every few days

  29. Wayne Brunton says:

Weekly video is good. Weekly notes are excellent as I have been printing them and distributing them to clients and prospects.

  30. Si Harris says:

I’m up for mixing it up a little. If your passionate about something Vlog it, if its interesting blog it. A mixture of podcasts, vlogs and blogs makes it interesting.

(I can’t help thinking what my father would be thinking if he was looking over my shoulder right now reading this post!! My, how technology has changed us all….)

  31. Roy O'Hanlon says:

Weekly typed is good – very easy to send onto clients

  32. David Guest says:

I think they’re all great for all the above reasons.
Blog for cutting and pasting weekly
Vlog for getting the emotion across weekly
Podcast for easy listening on the iphone weekly

  33. Bob Britz says:

I actully prefer the written word. I find it easier to forward, view on a blackberry – which is becoming my 90% mode of communications (not an iPhone) – and text is it. I read most of my ‘newsletter’ email between appointments, at traffic lights and other times during the day when I’m not stationary on a computer to view video.

  34. Gerard Liddy says:

Short and sharp is working for me so the medium won’t matter. Surprise us with a video every few days and keep the blogs coming.

  35. Ian Lane says:

Maybe a weekly “ROAST” by video and back it up with a blog for the rest (doesn’t written register more on web spiders?)

    Lano

  36. bradsugars says:

OK, so a VLOG weekly, a podcast Audio weekly and written every other day with a picture or two thrown in for fun … got it … keep your comments coming, thanks …

  37. Michele Alexander says:

Yes, V Blog weekly works for me – you are inspiring visually! so go with your strengths.
Daily is causing me a back log as I refuse to can anything you send through!
    Thanks Brad

  38. David Beam says:

Weekly video e-mailed to me (the link) would be my vote – every week at the same time e.g. Monday AM so it can be put into my routine.

  39. Jaime Ruben Flores says:

One 3 minute video a week would be great

  40. Gary Hannie says:

Weekly or every few days, in my opinion, would have the most impact. Thank you for the input you offer at ANY time.

  41. Marco says:

    Brad,

Loved to be once a week video and occasionally every other week audio. I liked also the short articles every day.

  42. renedemurard says:

I like the idea of audio rather than video, unless you have to show us slides on the topic. My preference would go for once a day, which would get to 15 minutes a week to listen. Thanks for the commitment.

  43. Brod Ivory says:

A video twice per week would a great way to communicate your message quickly and conveniently to the team.

  44. Marc Bernard says:

The thought of the day, quick, short, less than a minute could be interesting in a video as a starter. A weekly video can be longer and allow more communication and sharing. The reason why I vote for weekly. Thanks Brad.

  45. David Forrester says:

I agree with Brad Sugars at 19:47 above – ticks all the boxes

  46. Rich Phillips says:

If you are still counting… I can use the daily inspiration that your audio/video convey. Taking in your sound bites as I travel through the day is a bit easier than reading and driving!!

  47. Kyle Zelazny says:

I like the idea of video once per week. Topics I would like to hear your insight on are money management, time management, mindset of an entrepreneur, and attitude.

  48. Mark Raciappa says:

    Brad,

I really enjoy a short “quick-hitter” video and would vote for weekly, preferably on the same day so I can make it part of my Default diary.

  49. Alex Petty says:

My vote would be to have a weekly vlog and blog 2 times a week. This gives time to do something with the learnings. As well as watching the video on my PC, I often listen to videos in the car – don’t have to watch the screen to get the learnings.

  50. Tanya says:

I only have times to watch videos on the weekends so Videos once a week is a nice treat and gives it a personal touch.

Blogs every 3 days or so seems to be enough to not get backlogged.
